A Creek Cabin, and What That Actually Means
Plenty of north Georgia cabins advertise a creek. Often it is seasonal, or it is across a road, or it is a drainage ditch with good lighting in the photographs. Holly Creek runs a few feet from Sherpa Camp, year-round, loud enough to hear from the loft with the windows shut.
The cabin sits on the headwaters, at roughly 1,800 feet, on a grandfathered lot surrounded by national forest. The water arrives here cold and clean because there is nothing upstream of it but mountain.

The creek as an amenity
Children do not need to be taught what to do with a creek. They will be in it within four minutes of arrival and will stay there, turning over stones and reporting on crawfish, until called. This is the single most reliable thing about staying here. Parents tend to arrive with an itinerary and abandon it by Saturday afternoon, which is the correct outcome.
For adults, the creek runs cold enough to serve as recovery after a long ride or a hard hike, and the sound of it does most of the work that noise machines are sold to do.

Trout water
There are wild trout in Holly Creek. Mostly rainbows, quick and colored like the creek bottom, with the occasional brown that has been making better decisions than its neighbors. The lower creek toward Chatsworth is stocked seasonally and fishes the way stocked water fishes. Up here the fish are wild, which means they spook at a heavy footfall and refuse a fly that drags even slightly.
A short light rod is the right tool. Longer rods spend the day arguing with rhododendron. Georgia requires a fishing license and a trout license, both available online from Georgia DNR. On the property we ask that every fish goes back in the creek.
If you are fishing with children, a spinning rod and a small inline spinner work fine. There is no purity test on Holly Creek.

Practical
Sleeps five. King loft, bunk room for three, one full bath, full kitchen, deck, grill, fire pit. Gravel road at the end, no cell service on approach, Starlink at the cabin.
Water levels rise fast after heavy rain. Use the footbridge, keep an eye on children near the water, and check the creek before you let anyone in it.
